The Adaptable Drone Combat Support System or ADCSS is an interchangeable drone weapon which is designed to support marines in combat through a variety of different roles. To enable ease of use in the field, the entire base section drone is able to be replicated and assembled in under five minutes, with each module taking up to fifteen minutes to replicate and assemble, depending on the number of components. To allow further ease of use, each drone is powered by a powerpack consisting of 16 phaser cells.

The drone comes in four versions: the sentry Hellhound, the close fire support Basilisk, the scout/recon Mouse and the anti-armour Reaver. The Drone is still a comparatively rare sight in the Marine Corps and as such they are currently deployed at a usual ratio of 2 per Platoon although some Battalions which have had the ADCSS deployed for longer are now up to one or even two per squad. Once full deployment is accomplsh by 2388, each Marine fire-team will have an ADCSS unit attached.

OOC Note: The ADCSS is not ideal for use aboard a starship, as it presents a large target in a combat situation and occupies an abnormally large quantity of a standard corridor. They are designed for operation in open spaces, typically planetside.

Base unit

The base unit, common to all four drone models, contains the following components:

  • Engine (Top speed 595 kph, operational height 5000 feet)
  • Power pack
  • Manoeuvring fins
  • Computer core
  • Primary sensor cluster (2.5km extreme range, detail to 1km)
  • Communication cluster (500km range without satellite relay)

Hellhound (Sentry) Module

The Hellhound is designed as perimeter defence support. Although capable of movement its advantage lies in remaining camouflaged until needed. Hellhounds are often used in conjunction with anti-personnel mines.

  • 1x Squad Assault Phaser or Ballistic Assault Weapon (60 rounds) mount
  • Secondary sensor cluster
  • Electromagnetic masking device
  • Holo-adaptive camouflage

Basilisk (Fire Support) Module

The Basilisk is designed to operate with infantry units, providing a mobile weapon platform to support ground troops.

  • 4x Squad Assault Phaser or Ballistic Assault Weapon (60 rounds) mount
  • Light shielding system

Mouse (Scout) Module

The Mouse in an intelligence gatherer designed to get close to enemy positions and relay tactical data for planning.

  • Secondary powerpack
  • Secondary sensor cluster
  • Secondary communications cluster
  • Electromagnetic masking device
  • Holo-adaptive camouflage
  • Secondary manoeuvring thrusters

Reaver (Anti-armour) Module

The Reaver is designed purely to take down armoured vehicles and fortifications with more precision than a launched weapon such as the M16 or M17 rockets.

  • 2x Isomagnetic Disintegrator
  • Secondary power pack
