A Starfleet Marine Corps pilot is the Marine equivalent of a Starfleet Support Craft Pilot. They are usually a non-commissioned officer (NCO) or warrant officer trained to operate the support and transportaion craft and vehicles used by the Marine detachments This includes craft and vehicles such as the Wyvern hoppers, Firefly as well as the Argo All-Terrain Vehicle and other Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFV).

Pilots are not authorized to fly combat starfighers such as Razors or Broadswords. It is, however, quite common for experienced NCOs to apply for their Warrant or to Officer Candidate School in order to become fighter pilots.

Marine pilots report to the commander of the Marine aerospace contingent or, in their absence, the Marine Commanding Officer. Marine pilots coordinate with the starship or starbase Flight Control Operations department for flight plans and space traffic control.
