Intelligence Field Operations

The Field Operations department of Starfleet Intelligence is responsible for putting operatives into the field to gain information and spread counter-intelligence. They may also be called upon to rescue an intelligence asset that has been compromised. The department is split into covert and overt operations and internal and external relations. Other sub divisions include the Special Equipment section, and sections to create safehouses and front organizations. Sectors are also created for each of four quadrants of the Federation and those assigned to hostile foreign governments. These sectors are changing constantly as new threats are located and old threats become out of date. The information gathered is sent for processing to the Intelligence Analysis Division. These operatives are generally not assigned to ships unless that ship is entirely devoted to intelligence gathering. Most starship commanders need the data of information out there, not someone to gain additional information.
