Heavy/Support Weapons Specialist

A heavy/support weapons specialist is a Marine Rifleman who has received extra training in the operation and maintenance of various support and heavy weapons as well as the tactics and strategies in using them effectively.

Most light infantry squads have at least one marine trained as a heavy/support weapons specialist. These marines are usually armed with a Squad Assault Weapon Phaser (SAWP). However, should combat circumstances dictate, they can be armed with various heavy weapons such as the M4 rocket propelled grenade, M16 anti-tank rocket or the G72 anti-air craft rocket.
