Fleet Advocates

A Fleet Advocate is a Fleet Member who has sat and passed a special course in JAG rules, regulations and case-law. The Members are entitled to add the letters "FA" after their name and rank to show their status.

Fleet Advocates are permitted to represent any Fleet Member regardless of their current rank and can give advice in confidence to any Member.

The Keeper of the Roll of Advocates is the head of the Fleet Advocate scheme and has the power to admit or expel Advocates from the Roll. The current Keeper is the Judge Advocate-General.

[edit] Qualification

To be admitted to the Roll, candidates must:

  • Study the following areas:
    • Administrative Law
    • Disiciplinary Law
    • Fleet Government
    • JAG Administration
  • Complete the Admission Examination
  • Submit an Application to the JAG Office for Admission based on the above
  • Usually have a good reference obtained from their COs by the JAG Office
